I am not able to give what the people deserve

I am writing you all to announce that I am officially ending my campaign for County Council in District 2. This has been an incredibly difficult decision for me, and I assure you it did not come lightly.

Over the past four months, my professional career has required more and more of my time and effort, which has clearly detracted from my ability to work on the campaign. I've spent all of my remaining time knocking on doors and reaching out to the constituents of District 2, but I don't feel like I have been able to give it my all. My greatest concern coming into this race was letting my supporters down, and I feel the best way to avoid doing that is to step aside and work for my community on the ground level without the demands of a political campaign.

Cyber in Command of Howard County

I recently spoke with Governor Ehrlich about "Cyber Security", "Cyber Jobs", and our County's position to benefit from this burgeoning new industry. Due to Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and the creation of United States Cyber Command, our citizens will have the opportunity to join a fast growing work-force of government contractors who work with our men and women in uniform to protect this country and its infrastructure. I have the unique perspective of being someone who has worked in the field for over seven years. In that time, I have served as both an analyst and a business leader as my company looks to expand in the area and hire new employees.

Your Thoughts, My Promise

Over the past month, I have continued with my efforts to meet every resident of District 2 through door knocking, sign waving, and community events. I have noticed that a majority of those I have spoken with yearn for the same quality of life and measured improvement in their community and neighborhoods that have been promised by our elected officials, but have been experienced by a select few. People want new blood in public office to focus on their needs, and "not just those in Columbia."

Where I Stand

My first objective in office will be to explore avenues for the revitalization of the Route One corridor. This has been a campaign promise for scores of candidates, including my opponent, but very few Council-members have followed through. Differentiating me from other candidates is the fact that I live on Route One. I have seen the atrophy and wasted space that have taken place in the face of disuse and bad zoning laws. If we are going to be the County of which everyone can be proud, we need to make sure that all of our citizens can experience these revitalization efforts and not merely those living in Columbia.

It's Time to Get Excited

Dear Howard County Voters,

I am excited. Over the past two weeks, I have experienced a ground-swell of support from the citizens and business of this county that are interested in creating positive change and bringing a new voice to the council chamber. I have redoubled my efforts to reach out to each and every one of these supporters to learn about their concerns and their hopes for the community. I am writing now to let you know that you have reason to be excited too.

Redevelopment of Columbia

Some of you may have noted my quote in Saturday's paper with regard to Columbia redevelopment. I wanted to write to further explain my positions and thoughts towards redevelopment.

First off, I believe that the current plan focuses more on the development itself than the goals we may be trying to reach by developing. Developing for the sake of development does not serve any social or economic goals and does little more than pad the pockets of disinterested out-of-county businesses.
